Do share…. you’ve gotten my attention!” She pouted her lips at him, “It’s not fair to dangle it infront of me like that.” Her eyes narrowed slightly and she pushed her hair back. “Is it something I can trust you with? Or is this a deal with the devil sort of thing?” She forced out a small laugh. “I wanna know.”

“Oh, trust me when I say that you will love it. Did the world ‘immortality’ interests you ? or powers to save your beloved ?”

“Ahh…” Her eyes brightened in curiosity. “Well, I don’t have a beloved so that won’t do me any good. Immortality catches my interest.” She looked at him suspiciously as a playful smile grew on her lips. “Why make such an offer? .. And what would I need to do in return?”

“Oh, you’re not supposed to have ‘one’ beloved. Maybe also your friend are important for you, no ?” he smiled lightly at her, glancing away.
“The price is normal, I mean. I give you immortality and powers…and also protection. But you need to give me your soul. I’m not deleting it or throwing it. I will keep your soul for you. So if someone try to kill you…can’t. Because you haven’t a soul in your body, but I will have it for you. It’s not dangerous for you…I’ll be your personal guardian. So you can call me when you want and ask for my help in any moment. Satisfy you ?”

“Of course they matter.” She gave a small smile and tilted her head. She looked up at him and into his eyes. “My soul?” She smirked, “I could have guessed that, dear. Your offer is very tempting…. but can I trust you to look after my soul?” She laughed slightly and looked at the ground. “I hope I’m not being fooled and acting like the usual gullible human being.”

“Don’t make fun of my loyalty. I’m a demon, a demon condemned to slavery. How could I deceive you ? It’s only my job, Miss. Nothing more.”
Then he give her a serious look.

Disse dal bagno mentre si sciacquava via con una ciotola tutto il sudore e lo sporco.
“Forse avrò preso un colpo in testa. E parla a vanvera quanto vuoi….fosse per me non starei nemmeno un secondo dentro di te. Irriti il mio sistema nervoso.”
Finito con la bacinella si asciugò con un panno tornando in camera da Tara.
“Ma sei torda o cosa ? Adesso secondo te con cosa mi vesto ?”
Lanciò uno sguardo pungente a Tara…ma stringendo i denti gli strappo gli abiti sporchi di mano e se li rimise.
“Grazie tante, idiota. Adesso se puzzo la colpa la daranno a Elwyn, bel lavoro.”

Appena finita quella frase Elwyn entrò di fretta nella stanza, dando un occhiata indagatrice alle due.

Gli occhi di Irah si piantarono a terra ed un lieve rossore gli comparve sulle guance. Era arrabbiata per la figura che Tara gli faceva fare.
“Non proprio, quest’idi— …Tara, non mi ha gentilmente lavato i vestiti. Ora puzzo come un contadino..nonstante io mi sia lavata accuratamente.” Mise il broncio alzando gli occhi furenti su Elwyn.

L’espressione di Elwyn sembrò indurirsi..camminò di fretta trascinadosi le gonne. Raggiunse Irah e le schioccò un sonoro schiaffo sulla guancia.
“Tara è un ospite, tu devi prenderti cura di te stessa da sola. Non sei una bambina e lei non è la tua badante, Irah !!”

Irah sembrò profondamente ferita da quel gesto, senza dire nulla i suoi occhi si inumidirono e l’espressione la tradiva più del dovuto. Prese a correre verso la porta. Aprendola di gran foga si infilò nel corridoio sbattendola talmente forte da frantumare i cardini della porta..fino a farla cedere al suolo.

Elwyn sospirò dispiaciuta per quel gesto, ma Irah era troppo ribelle. Alzò gli occhi su Tara riservandogli un sorriso dolce, nonstante fosse logoro dalla fatica e dallo sforzo nel picchiare l’amica. “Tara, andiamo. Tra poco c’è la cena..poi una bella dormita e domani all’alba partiremo di già. Ti chiedo scusa per tutto questo trambusto…Irah sa essere la persona più buona del mondo..ma è un po difficile i primi tempi.”
